March 2006 - Baltic Dental
expands its cosmetic dentistry program with new laser whitening
technology. With the addition of laser whitening, Baltic Dental
joins a select group of Latvian dentists using this advanced and
highly effective teeth whitening treatment. The technology involves
the use of a translucent bleaching gel and laser light to activate
bleaching crystals and penetrate the teeth enamel. This creates
a lightening effect on the teeth with improvement of up to 9 tones.
The treatment can take as little as 45 minutes.
December 2005 - Heart
disease associated with oral health – a new study from Karolinska
Institutet in Sweden shows, for the first time, an association between
coronary heart disease and oral health in women. Recent results
have also shown that serological factors, might provide insight
into the reported epidemiological association between periodontitis
and cardiovascular disease. A possible mechanism behind the reported
association could be the release of bacteria, bacterial products
or pro-inflammatory cytokines from the periodontal lesions into
the blood stream.
